Phantom Limb

"A Phantom Limb is the sensation that an amputated or missing Limb (even an organ like the appendix), is still attached to the body and is moving appropriatly with other body parts . Approximatley 5 to 10 % of individuals with an amputaion experience phantom sensations in thier amputated limbs , and the majority of the sensations are painful. However not all phantom Limbs are painful ,Patients will sometimes feel as if they are gesturing ,feel itches ,twitch , or even try to pick things up ".

Creepy ,eh ?... I guess the it also has to do with the mind , it's playing tricks on the patient , as the patient is still in shock or in denial about the missing part so he/she thinks that his amputated leg for example is hiding behind his back and it still hurts , he stands infront of the mirror and see that he doesn't have a leg anymore but he still feels the pain or the itch in it .
